| Abstract(in English) | The World Congress on ITS has been held annually since the first meeting in 1994. First, this thesis will provide a brief explanation of the objectives and the circumstances facing the world congress with regard to ITS. This will be followed by a presentation on the current conditions in Japan where a synergy has formed between the progress being made in-vehicle navigation systems and the transportation infrastructures, placing Japan at the forefront in the world market. ETC and Mayday System & Services, which were brought into service over the past few years in preparation for full-scale introduction in the near future, will also be covered. Following that there will be an overview of the current conditions in Europe and the U.S.In Europe, the telematics market is expanding, combining the GSM network and in-vehicle equipment. Today, the U.S.is undergoing a priority shift from ITS for business applications to infrastructure building, data collection, plus information distribution on the internet. In the last part, some projections about the near future will be made looking at the architecture of driving support systems and other in-vehicle terminals for integrated information and communications. These utilize broadband wireless communications and multiple communication media and are being developed with the aim of accelerating the expansion of the ITS business in Japan. |
