Development of a WWW Server Benchmark System with Network Delay

Abstract(in English) Stable operation of a large-scale WWW server becomes important as providing various WWW services. Server administrators must know maximum performance of a server system for its stable operation, and they usually investigate server performance using a benchmark system. With a conventional benchmark system, the server system performance is measured in the LAN environment. The LAN environment, however, does not reflect the network delay that the real environment has. Therefore, building an experiment network more near actual environment, we design and implement a new benchmark system that employs method with inserting a different delay time every connection between the server and the client. We also compare our system and conventional system by observing using packet monitoring system.
