Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Dynamic and selective replication schemes for Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) are discussed. Previous dynamic replication approaches impose a significant overhead on networks and servers due to a large volume of transmission and storage of replica contents. Furthermore, replica servers are selected so as to optimize mainly server load-balancing. We propose two new schemes to address these disadvantages : (i) a selective content replication scheme that replicates content groups created dynamically based on access frequency and logically aggregates the directories of replicated contents using a URL rewriting technique, and (ii) a replica server selection algorithm taking into account performance improvements in clients and servers. Simulation of the proposed schemes showed that the selective content replication scheme effectively reduces response time and origin server load with a lower disk usage level. It also showed that the proposed replica server selection algorithm can achieve a good balance between improvements in both origin server load and response time.
