Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The paper reports the performance evaluation results of previously proposed layer 7 integrated QoS routing scheme, which minimizes the content delivery delay over the Internet. Previous schemes uses FQDN-based load balancing technique by Round-Robin DNS or a special protocol tightly coupled with DNS which finds the best server site using Web server processing delay, hop counts, and RTT delay. The metrics used by these previous schemes, however, are not enough to minimize the content delivery delay. The proposed scheme is expected to improve the performance by using (1) new metrics of network resouce utilization for server selection and (2) finer granular URL-based selective mirroring. An analytical model is used to demonstrate the performance improvement over currently used approaches. Especially in some cases, the proposed scheme performs three times lower delay than the previous schemes.
