| Abstract(in English) | Today, embedded processors are installed into every electronically controlled "system" such as TVs, cellular-phones, camcorders, rice-cookers, game-machines, Tamagocchis, copiers, printers, PDAs, HDDs, or automobiles, except for the central processing unit of PCs. Sometime around the year 2005 it is expected that a 0.1um miniaturization technology will be available, dRAM capacity should be measured by Gigabit/part, GIPS or BOPS will be used instead of MIPS to evaluate performance of a processor, broadcasting digital TV will become common and the opt-fiber networks will have prevailed over the country. In that timeframe what kinds of features, performance and specifications are most probably required and useful for second or third generation embedded processors from now and, what kinds of products or applications deploying these ones will be emerged? Each panelist will describe his own view of embedded processors circa 2005 as a visionary in the domain of his expertise, followed by discussions with all attendees. |
