Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a basic idea of PVM-VLDDBS, a kind of very large distributed database systems. Recently, total amount of disk storages for databases performing intelligent information network is surprisingly increasing. This causes two problems: one is increase of BR (Backup/Restore) time, and another is imbalance of data accesability. Our solution is PVM-VLDDBS. PVM is one of the platforms for network-based parallel processing environment. PVM-VLDDBS performs parallel and synchronous BR with PVM and some storage devices. How much we can reduce BR time is estimated by numerial formulas. This gain can be allocated as database access time for all network users.
