Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the design of a microkernel for the OS/omicron version 4. OS/omicron version 4 is an operating system that supports a handwriting interface, with a microkernel architecture to ensure the extendability of resource management. The features of this microkernel are as follows : extendability, providing a single two dimensional addressing space, virtualizing the resources of the microkernel as a segment and providing a protection mechanism for segment access which allows flexibility in deciding the trade-off between reliability and performance. From these features, it is possible to protect accesses to the resources with the access right for segments uniformly.
