Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) RAID5 disk arrays attract a great deal of attension because of the characteristic of high partformance and high reliability. But RAID5 disk arrays are parity encoded redundant disk arrays,so there is a problem of degrading small write performauce. We study the memory management storage scheme for RAID5 disk arrays with parity stripe reorganizations, named ″Virtual Striping″.With virtu al stripes write data are dynamically allocated to new parity stripe.Because this allocation causes to decrease the load of calculating parity, the small write performance improves. In this paper the mechanism of virtual striping and the its evaluation of basic performance are discussed.
