Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Hand gesture recognition is one of the most important researches for Human-computer interaction, and this paper presents a gesture recognition approach for an interface between human and a PC, which will replace current interface tools such as a mouse and a keyboard. A typical process for hand gesture recognition consists of three steps: image processing, feature extraction and recognition. In this paper, we improve the previous work especially on the steps of feature extraction and recognition. In particular, in the feature extraction step, we exploit statistical methods including discriminant analysis. As a result, we could construct gesture set which can be recognized in a higher recognition rate than the previous approach. |
