Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Image-based rendering (IBR) has been used to synthesize an image corresponding to a new view point from images captured by arranged cameras. Rendering methods based on a three-dimensional plenoptic function are attractive due to the simplicity of image capture. Only a few discussions on a scaling problem to correct the vertical distortion which heavily affects the visual fidelity of a synthesized image, however, have been done for specific camera arrangements. This paper presents the modeling of a virtual camera using a set of one-dimensional cameras. Using the virtual camera, we develop a rendering algorithm with a scaling scheme for arbitrary camera arrangements. Then we show that the virtual camera can be used to realize new view generation by multiperspective imaging. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed algorithm.
