Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been researching a method of generating a high-resolution dynamic 3D object of a subject from multi-viewpoint images. A dynamic 3D object reconstructs the shape, color, and movement of the subject, and so can be used to preserve traditional Japanese performing arts like Noh and Kabuki. Furthermore, the dynamic 3D object can be displayed from any angle, and so is useful for education. In order to create a high-resolution dynamic 3D object, accurate reconstruction of the 3D shape of the subject and giving a realistic surface texture are important. In this paper, we propose a viewpoint-dependent texture mapping method which enables texture to be mapped to the surface of the model from the images taken by the camera nearest the display viewpoint at the time of playback. We performed an experiment which confirmed that the high-resolution dynamic 3D object could be played back real time.
