Abstract(in English) | We have been developing a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system for mammograms. Mass segmentation is important in many CAD systems for classification of breast masses as malignant or benign. The extraction results of mass shadows had a great influence on the CAD scheme. In this study, we evaluated the accuracy of an automated mass extraction method developed by our group, and to investigate the effect of the segmentation condition on the overall classification accuracy. The automated segmentation method was quantitatively compared with semi-automatic segmentation by the area overlap measures. It became apparent that conditions to extract for masses of many sizes or shapes were critical problem. |
