Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a method for estimating road conditions with in-vehicle stereo cameras. We first generate 3D model from images taken through two cameras and detect the areas of objects on the road using Z value. Then, we distinguish vehicle areas according to the velocity of objects which can be calculated using inter-frame distance variations between objects and the cameras, and moreover estimate traffic information such as available velocity of vehicles or traffic density on the targeted road. Finally, we perform a simulation using Mathematica and evaluate the proposed method.
