Abstract(in English) | In this paper, the subject of character recognition and document understanding is reviewed from the viewpoint of next-stage technology development and business promotion. At first, a variety of application fields of today's OCR products are summarized. Secondly, it is indicated that a change of evaluation factors for OCR products is arising in the mind of ordinary users. According to this tendency, the author proposes ultimate goal of the technology. Namely, it is to become a friendly human-society interface that can help people access to social information systems. Finally, based on author's experiences, an idea to achieve long time R&D and product shipment is introduced. |
