Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper we propose disparity estimation method by using bimodal property of stereo matching score. This method can estimate disparity correctly on boundary area. In window matching, matching curve often shows bimodal property when the evaluation value is limited. These two modal points correspond to foreground disparity and background disparity. Our method re-calculates the matching score of target pixel for these two disparities, and assigns the disparity that has higher similarity. The proposed method has advantage that it can estimate true disparity even if matching score doesn't show the minimum value at the true target. Experimental results show the improvement of matching accuracy.
