Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, a system for detecting dangerous vehicles in rear area by using image processing and warning drivers about them is proposed. The system is useful for avoiding collisions which occur when changing lanes and are caused by sudden brakes without care for following vehicles, moreover, early detection of runaway vehicles. The system is divided into three parts, which are Lane Detection, Vehicle Detection, and Vehicle Observation. In Lane Detection, recording and forecasting shapes of lanes, stable Lane Detection can be come true near the vanishing point. In Vehicle Detection, a new method which can detect just front faces of following vehicles is proposed.
