Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An anisotropic extension is presented for the bilateral filter which is one of edge-preserving nonlinear filters. Spatially anisotropic weights are adjusted on the basis of the gradient tensor of the luminance at each pixel. The anisotropic bilateral filter is applied to enhancement of stripe patterns such as fingerprints and non-photorealistic rendering for generating flow patterns. Evtension of the low-pass characteristics to a band-pass one strengthens the stripe enhancement effect of the filter.
