Handwritten character recognition using elastic matching based on a category-dependent deformation model

Abstract(in English) 手書き文字の認識において,手書き変形を補償するための手法として,弾性マッチングの利用が検討されている.従来法がすべてのカテゴリに共通の変形特性を仮定していたのに対し,本報告では各カテゴリに固有の変形特性を組み込んだ手法を提案する.具体的には,各カテゴリの任意の変形をそのカテゴリに固有ないくつかの変形の加重和で表現する.その結果,各カテゴリ内に生じる変形だけが適切に補償されることになり,過変形の抑制および計算効率の向上といった効果が得られる.本手法は,一種の非線形最適化問題として定式化される.本報告ではその近似解法についても述べる.
