Abstract(in English) We recently proposed a three-step fast cell search algorithm employing the Common Pilot Channel (CPICH) for Orthogonal Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing (OFCDM) broadband wireless access in forward link, which comprises the following three steps: OFCDM symbol timing detection using the correlation of the guard interval (first step); frame timing and cell-specific scrambling code (CSSC) group detection using the CPICH (second step); and identification of a target CSSC within the detected group (third step). This paper presents laboratory experimental results on cell search time performance of the proposed thee-step cell search algorithm by the implemented transceivers using fading simulators. Experimental results elucidate that the three-step cell search method achieves the fast cell search time of approximately 4 msec at the cumulative distribution of 90% in a six-path Raylegh fading channel with the maximum Doppler frequency of 20-400 Hz and r.m.s. (root mean square) delay spread of 0.1-0.6 μsec when the average received signal energy per symbol-to-noise power spectrum density ratio (E_3,/N_0) is -2 dB.
