Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report experimentally assesses route rediscovery delays in a wireless ad hoc network. The network consists of six laptops which are each equipped with an IEEE802.11b wireless LAN card. On-demand routing protocols, AODV and DSR, are implemented on each laptop. We first measure the route rediscovery delays when a wireless link along the path between the source node and the destination node is disconnected. The experimental results show that the route rediscovery delay is greatly dependent on the location of the disconnected wireless link, especially in AODV. We further demonstrate that appropriate transmission timing of routing packets leads to short delays of route rediscovery in AODV.
