Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) One of the great interests of IP-telephony users is its end-to-end QoS. The QoS of IP telephony should be evaluated in subjective terms. The quality evaluation methodologies of conventional telephony services have been studied for a long time, and resulted in the creation of a number of international standards. For IP-telephony services, which suffer from new quality degradatoin factors, on the other hand, the quality assessement methodologies have not been completely established. In particular, it is quite important to develop methodologies for quality monitoring and managemaent since IP networks do not necessarily guarantee the transmission performance. Such studies have been dealt with in ITU-T SG12. This paper introduce recent activities in SG12, espacially from the view point of objective quality assessment.
