Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report assesses application-level QoS of audio-video transmission in a wireless LAN with the IEEE 802.11e MAC. By simulation, we first compare the performance of the EDCF, which supports the priority control for multimedia transmissions, and the current IEEE 802.11 DCF. Numerical results show that the EDCF can improve the quality of audio and video of the DCF. We then study the effects of dynamic resolution control and media synchronization control on the application-level QoS in the EDCF and the DCF. Furthermore, we assess user-level QoS by the method of successive categories, which is one of the psychometric method.
