Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Mobile communication networks contain extremely large numbers of network elements (NEs). Systems that receive messages (including alarms) from NEs and control NEs with commands are called OSS servers. OSS servers are required to process about 400 messages per second, so conventional OSS servers are comprised of large scale UNIX servers. Consequently, telecommunications carriers are forced not only to make large investments in OSS server hardware but also follow hardware vendor strategies, such as hardware and OS version updates. This paper describes the basic concept of the distributed data driven architecture, an architecture devised for application to OSS servers. By applying this architecture to OSS servers, telecommunications carriers can introduce and expand OSS server hardware at low cost regardless of hardware vendor strategies. This paper describes the characteristics of the prototype systems that apply this architecture.
