Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The conventional IP node has focused on performance of packet forwarding rather than their functionality, and services are deployed on network endpoints (servers and clients). If we serve some functions on IP node, we can reduce processing power of terminal so that we can reduce size and power-consumption of terminal. In this paper, we propose modular node archtecture to extend their performance and functions in a flexible manner. We implemented transparent Web cache on a prototype node, and we describe how higher-layer function can be implemented to the node. And we tested efficiency of our architecture by experiment.
