Edge Traffic Control for Optical Packet Router with Shared Buffers

Abstract(in English) We are investigating an optical packet router using electronic edge routers as shared buffers. This router handles variable-length packets in optical domain without using optical memories. The packet loss rate and the packet sequence error rate depend on the control algorithm for buffered traffic and edge traffic in this router. This paper proposes edge traffic control algorithm to improve the performance of the optical packet router. The performance improvements are evaluated in various system models, such as number of wavelengths and edge traffic amount.
