Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In order to provide highly efficient wireless communication with high reliability, wireless LAN systems with 5GHz band support multiple modulation modes and Link-Adaptation (LA) technique with which the best modulation mode is adaptively selected according to the link condition. To establish the LA technique, instantaneous packet error rate (PER) performance on the link must be estimated accurately even though the channel condition fluctuates rapidly because of multi-pass fading. To select the best modulation mode, there are two approaches. One uses information on MAC layer such as records for transmission failure, and the other uses information on PHY layer such as channel estimation results for known preamble signal. Though the approach with PHY layer information can achieve superior throughput performance, it requires highly accurate PER estimation technique. This paper proposes new evaluation functions to select the modulation mode on LA control. In addition, using computer simulation for wireless LAN systems based on HiSWANa standard, it is shown that the proposed evaluation functions are useful to estimate instantaneous PER performance in multi-path environment. |
