Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) IEEE802.11 wireless LAN systems support multiple transmission rates. Appropriate transmission rate selection according to channel condition achieves high throughput performance maintaining high transmission quality. A dynamic rate switching scheme using success-or-failure information of packet transmission has been proposed for CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance) systems like IEEE802.11 wireless systems. However, unnecessary packet errors occur, because it is difficult for conventional scheme to estimate the packet error probability after switching a transmission rate. This causes throughput degradation. In this paper, we propose a new dynamic rate switching scheme using the information of continuous transmission failure and that of channel condition to eliminate unnecessary packet errors. The throughput performance of the proposed scheme was evaluated by computer simulation.
