Study of real time collaboration for heterologous interface

Abstract(in English) In this research, we have been studying on networked shared virtual environment (SVE) system using haptic interface. There are some studies on an SVE system with only haptic interface, however, there are few studies on a collaboration between heterologous interfaces. In this paper, we especially address on a collaboration between haptic interface and non-haptic interface such as a mouse. The purpose of this paper is to develop a control algorithm for collaborating between non-haptic interface (mouse) and haptic interface (PHANToM). For this purpose, we propose a way to generate virtual force between virtual object and a mouse for supressing disorder of haptic interface operation. For evaluation of system, we measured an efficiency of a collaboration task between two clients using haptic or non-haptic interfaces.
