Abstract(in English) The FreeGaze system measures the direction of a viewer's gaze by monitoring the positions of the pupil and the Purkinje image. We propose an automatic calibration method that eliminates the need for complicated calibration. We demonstrate the method's effectiveness by testing accuracy in tracking the gaze of audience members watching a video. In the proposed method, automatic calibration is based on tracking of the Purkinje and pupil positions of viewers watching a marker scanning a screen in a specified pattern. Experimental results show that the gaze-tracking system measured eye movements more accurately with automatic calibration than with the predefined calibration which was previously used. We thus demonstrate both the possibility of automatic calibration for gaze-tracking and the greater accuracy of a system calibrated in this way.
