Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, it has been expected to develop the new method of analyzing quality of TV programs from many aspects. In order to quantitatively evaluate the quality, the authors focus on viewers' attention level to the program and propose an new estimation method the level by using image sensing information. By analyzing image of the viewers' eye, eye blink of them while watching the program is detected and the inter blink interval (IBLI) is measured. The pattern of the IBLI can be utilized to estimate whether viewers' are in a high attention level or not. Taking a certain quiz show as an example, attention level of the viewers are estimated and evaluated. Experimental results show that viewers' attention level become higher at typical situation when a scene or topic has changed and when a sound effect has inserted.
