| Abstract(in English) | Peripheral information is information that is not central to a person's current task, but provides the person the opportunity to learn more, to do a better job, or to keep track of other tasks. He might miss some peripheral information or be distracted from his main task if it is not displayed properly. It is important to understand the effect of displaying peripheral information on users' awareness. We proposed "cognitive intensity" as a metric for their awareness of peripheral information and analyzed several displaying methods. As a result, we found the proper methods for each class of peripheral information which has different properties such as various levels of importance or immediacy. |
