Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We carried out experiments on real-time recognition technology mainly for use with humans (i.e., human existence, face recognition, and hand gestures) in real-world environments. We focused on the detection methods for the basic postures and arm pointing gestures of multiple people in the room. We placed the stereo cameras statically, utilizing range information as a key. We first project the 3D points onto many planes parallel to the floor surface. Because information from the boundaries between planes would be lost otherwise, the 3D points are projected onto overlapping planes. We call this method "cross hierarchy." Here we describe human sensing method by using range information and human expression method as vectors.
