Arm Pointing Gesture Interface by Surrounded Stereo Cameras System

Abstract(in English) We proposed an arm pointing gesture interface using surrounded stereo cameras. This method could recognize multi person's intentional arm pointing gesture independently. Stereo camera provides depth information maps in real-time and the result is robust to lighting changes and user's wearing. Utilizing this feature, we developed sensing arm pointing method and ignoring method of unconscious arm pointing gesture. This interface does not depend on the user's position, direction and posture. We set four stereo cameras on four top corners of ceiling and applied this method in various lighting environments. We evaluated five user's arm pointing in multi points and obtained reliable accuracy. Furthermore, we applied this method to arm pointing gesture interface for home electronics using Bluetooth.
