Abstract(in English) Cognitive ability for Map reading was reviewed from the view point of navigation. Navigation consists of three subtask; planning, grasping one's position, keeping track. Demands for map reading are different among subtasks. Even adults have difficulty of reading maps. Success of map reading depends not only on abstract cognitive ability, but also on characteristics of maps and other factors. Suggestion was made for providing geographical information for navigation.
