Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) One of the technical problems in R&D of the human friendly robot, typified by the pet robot, is how to reserve robots' emotional affinity to human beings. This problem can be viewed from two aspects, I.e., human emotional state recognition by robots, and the means of robots' expression to cause human emotion. The purpose of this study is to make clear the relation between motion of AIBO, a famous commercialized the pet robot, and its impression to human beings. This is the first step to realize emotion expression for the pet robot. Questionnaire was prepared for investigation of the relation and statistical method was employed to analyze the data. Results showed that there is obvious relation between several types of motion and impression.
