Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We examined the transformation process of the spatial memory representation after body rotation through pointing task within walking distance. Either in the light or the dark, subjects pointed to the remembered target after body rotation. They showed the errors deviated along the opposite direction to the body rotation, and the magnitudes of error were shown as a linear function of the target position relative to the pre-rotation body location. All of our data could be explained by the weighted sum model proposed by Yoshida and Inni (2001). These findings revealed (1) for pointing behavior after body rotation, they use the body-centered and the environment-centered spatial representations in an integrative form; The former is referenced the pre-rotation body location, and the latter is referenced the selected object which is observable both from pre- and post-rotation body location, and (2) Body rotation makes the pointing errors derived solely from the body-centered representation magnified about two times toward the pre-rotation body location.
