Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Gaze perception has very important roles in our social life. In this article, we introduce some of our recent experimental results on gaze perception, and eye contact. The topics covered are horizontal accuracy of gaze perception, effect of viewing distances, detection of eye movements, accuracy in depth, effects of eye shapes, and the head turn effect. The most intriguing among these is that accuracy of gaze perception is independent of viewing distances. This suggest that gaze perception does not depend on fine features such as iris edges, but depends on low resolution information normalized by face or eye width. |
