Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we examine how casual gestures imply emotional expression in a situation where it is hard for people to explicitly express emotion even if they want to express it. We investigate act of drinking a beverage that is frequently observed in a face-to-face communication. We conducted experiments with nine subjects where we asked some unpleasant questions to the subjects to run them into uncomfortable feeling. Based on recorded motion of drinking by VCR and a pressure sensor set under a coaster for a cup and retrospective protocol, we found some correlation between velocity of putting the cup, the time while the subjects' lips are touching the edge of the cup and emotion of the subjects.
