| Abstract(in English) | The purpose of this study is to propose the new method of making tactile maps which are based on the human-haptic-characteristics. The tactile maps available today are not standardized, and are very difficult to understand their meanings. Investigation of tactile maps and following nine experiments were conducted: Experiment 1) the predomination of sense information during route guidance; Experiment 2) the predomination of haptic information during walking; Experiment 3) threshold of figure size; Experiment 4) threshold of figure thickness; Experiment 5) threshold of geometrical figure recognition; Experiment 6) haptic information capacity; Experiment 7) threshold of dual figure recognition; Experiment 8) haptic special recognition; and Experiment 9) cognitive distance walked. We defined the problems of present tactile maps and the reasons why the blind people rarely use them. We have defined that figure shapes, numbers of information, distance information, direction and quarter information should be taken into consideration when making tactile maps. In this study, we suggest "the new method of making tactile maps which are based on the human-haptic-characteristics". |
