Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study investigated the influences of nonverbal behaviors and unbalance of nodding toward conversation members on both impression formation and rapport in a triadic communication. Participants, 48 student (18 male,30 female) who were not acquaintance each other, were assigned to same sex triadic "conversation-discussion" or "conversation-intimacy." The results suggested that the effects of nonverbal behaviors on impression formation and rapport were different depend on types of conversation. Especially, nodding was positively correlated with good impression and rapport on "conversation-discussion." Smile led good impression on "conversation-intimacy," but influenced rapport negatively on "conversation-discussion." However, the hypothesis that the good balance of nodding toward conversation members led good impression was not supported. The results indicated the importance of the multi-channels approach focusing on both speech contents and nonverbal behaviors.
