Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes development of a novel communication system that using the shadow as an agent of an existence of a person in remote distance. With this system, spatial information in which each one is involved can be combined and expanded to a co-existing spatial zone in a non-separatable manner between subject (yourself) and object (your communication partner). Communication experiments using the shadow concept suggested that each embodiment was enhanced and spatial distance (Ma in Japanese) was created. Accordingly, it can be considered that this system will serve an effective means to create reliability and secure feeling between individuals involved in a remote communication.
