Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Ethological studies stressed female initiation and control of courtship signals, because of higher reproductive risk females face. If this is also true to individual differences, females who underestimate reproductive risk should not control courtship signals well. Movement synchrony of 10-min initial encounters of mixed-sex dyads was analyzed as the measure of courtship signal. Females who experienced frequent unwanted sexual access by strangers were found to be rather high in risk assessment, and to suppress synchronization. At the beginning of encounters, it was males who controlled the formation of movement synchrony, and females were found to use the information. |
