Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In wireless network environments, frame losses due to bit and/or out-of-sequence errors can occur with high and unpredictable probability. They are recovered through a communication protocol including error-recovery function such as TCP (denoted by a reliable-transmission window-based protocol : RWP). In this paper, we present an analytical method to derive the mean size of transmitted frames including discarded ones through an RWP for network environments interconnected by Bernoulli wireless links. The analysis shows that the mean frame size always increases as the bit error rate increases. We also discuss the increment ratio of the mean frame size plotted against bit errors when the message-size distribution is approximated by a discrete distribution and a generalized Erlang distribution, which are based on real traffic measurements. The key findings from the numerical results include that the increment of the mean frame size cannot be negligible in the case of selective retransmission or go-back-N retransmission with small window sizes when the bit error rate is high.
