Abstract(in English) Third generation (3G) mobile communication systems provide various video services , such as video teleconference, video streaming, and large-volume web. Furthermore, these days, the demand for real-time streaming services, which send a single video to two or more users, has been growing. The wireless point-to-multipoint(P-MP) communication technique realizes this kind of services. It enables a physical channel sharing among many users and improves spreading-code utilization efficiency. This paper proposes a new code assignment algorithm for wireless P-MP communications in wide-band code division multiple access (W-CDMA) systems. The proposed scheme divides users of a multipoint group into two groups - high-quality and low-quality, and assigns codes for multi-code transmission to each group. Moreover, it changes the number of assigned codes adaptively according to variations of channel qualities. In this paper, we evaluate transmission rates and qualities of received signals by using computer simulations. The simulation results verify the availability of the proposed scheme.
