Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this research, a model of interactive performance in a distributed virtual environment (DVE) with latency is proposed. This model is developed by studying the use of Markov models for estimating degradation in information quality due to network latency in a generalized task model. Through the theoretical study, the theoretical model is proposed for approximating the degree of degradation in information quality based on parameters of network latency and avatar movement. Strict numerical simulations of the Markov models were performed, and it was shown that the proposed theoretical model agrees well with simulation results. Subject experiments were also performed, and it was found that the accuracy of subject foresee was intermediate to estimation by 1st-order and 2nd-order Markov models at maximum.
