Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Depth information is important for non-verbal communication such as pointing and gesture. It has an advantage to display 3D geometry in a tele-communication system. But 3D geometry has an influence of an error of depth mesurement. 3D geometry has an advantage to acquire depth information. 2D background also has an advantage such as there is no influence of distortion and noise caused by an error of depth measurement. So, in this report, we propose a method for a shared space communication system that combines 2D and 3D advantage. A user is represented as a 3D image to exchange non-verbal communication cues. Background is displayed as 2D image to transmit overall atmosphere of remote site. We construct a prototype of high presence shared space communication system to evaluate our proposed method. As a result we show that our proposed method is effective for communication.
