Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When a brief lateral cue is presented and followed by a line, observers report a sensation of motion within the line from the cued end towards the uncued end. This phenomenon is called "illusory line-motion", and is thought to be driven by attention. Many researchers had used this stimulus to illuminate the characteristic of attention, but most of them used luminance-defined stimulus and revealed only the 2-D spatial characteristic of attention. In this study we investigated the characteristic of the visual attention in the depth dimension, using disparity-defined illusory line-motion by random dot stereogram. We found that the saliency of cue was not important, but the proximity between cue and line was. This finding suggests that the visual attention can process informations on different depth planes independently.
