Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a novel voice presentation method effective for wearable computing. This method is devised to reduce redundancy of serial presentation of voice menus by multiplexing voices under spatial localization. With a sound localization system, perception errors in voice directions were measured to determine appropriate directions and intervals in which a voice is accurately captured by the subject to allow a clear separation among multiple voices. Then, the voices were presented in spatiotemporally multiplexed conditions, and the percentages correctly perceived were compared between the cases with and without localization. The number of words and the onset intervals were the parameters of conditions. The result showed that the subjects could catch words more accurately with localization than without it. The number of words presented concurrently should be three or less, and the 0.3-second or longer onset interval was required for accurate hearing.
