Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We developed the urban spatial 3-dimensional (3D) platform "Fly Globe" in the Fly Globe, we developed a walk-through system based on our Interactive movie technique (IMV), which can easily distribute a large-scale 3D scene via Internet. In the IMV, 3D data, viewpoint course information, and object information are automatically transformed into streaming video clips and media synchronous information on XML form. The IMV client can display the 3D scene only by processing video streams. Using the IMV, 3D scene can be used on various terminals, such as usual PCs and PDAs. In this paper, we classify the city browsing service by user interaction, and we enumerate requirements of the walk-through system using for the virtual 3D city browsing. In addition, we compare the IMV and other approaches at the viewpoint of user interactions in the 3D city. Then, we explain that the IMV can provide good performance in the virtual city browsing.
