Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Considering that impairments of telecommunication service quality due to burst errors vary according to the error rate during burst errors, this report proposes a method for classifying burst errors with multiple error rate thresholds (grades) and for determining both the beginning and ending times of burst error sections. The error rate is determined by using a fixed-size window moving on the time scale, and errored bits at the boundary of adjacent burst error section of different grades are included in the burst error section having the higher error rate. This report also shows a measurement system for implementing the proposed method and discusses its operation.
